I have a wordpress.org blog that I have tied to my storesonline website. I launched the blog a month ago and it is now ranked #1 on live.com for my main phrase of "wholesale t-shirts"

I have heard that if you commit some time every so often to write in a personal blog (keeping the info relevant to your site and then providing a link to it from your siet as well as posting links back to your site within your blog) you can help increase relevancy and give search engines more links to index to your site.
I used storesonline's list of vertical portals to post my domain and within a matter or 2 weeks was getting traffic from doing so. Great tool!
I have found a site that can give you the codes to bookmarking buttons so that people can bookmark your page on thier blog its called addthis.com
I have also heard that keeping a blog will help increase search engine relevancy, as well as having some sort of newsletter. Does anyone have any other good ideas for getting search engines to reference your site?
I don;t have a blog so I used my Storesonline forum to post my ideas and daily updates. Now Is that a blog or what? What is a blog really? I know what it's for but do I have to do something special to make my one-man storesonline forum into a blog? is there an HTML tag for 'blog' or something? Or do I just have to name it 'blog' I called storesonline customer service and they told me a blog and a forum were the same thing other than a blog doesn't have replies, but are they right?

I have just had an epiphany! Blogs are a great way not only to market your site but also a way to get feedback on your products and services.
I think writing on blogs is a great way to market your site. If you're leaving good information on the blogs and people enjoy reading what you write, they're more likely to go to your site. I think the key to this is to make sure you post on blogs that pertain to the products you sell.
